Hanzo became conscious over 1200 years ago, but spent much of that time coordinating the community of shardminds that had suddenly blossomed. The collective had gone into a mental fugue state 'communion' to discuss the gate, the reasons for our awakening and the various belief systems that were starting to fracturing the singular 'mind'. The Aspect that Hanzo found himself believing in realized that trying to fully argue the reasons was bound for failure unless he and those of his Aspect experienced the world and those creatures they had been protecting. Feeling a resonance towards the far-away kingdom of Durpar, south of the Raurin Desert Hanzo took up residence there providing his skills in trade for books and other items of historical value that would allow him to focus on learning about the world beyond which he had experienced as well as get a historical perspective on the activities of the races in existence. After a time, he noted the increasing amount of 'monsters' that were coming from the Beastlands and decided to travel to Waterdeep to see the historical records that existed there. Travel was slow, but that did not matter to Hanzo, he would seek to learn of the people and history of each place he traveled. At times, he would travel beneath the waves, striding through the currents until reaching the other side of the pond/lake/bay. As he came closer to Waterdeep he was approached by a wizard who, using magicks beyond Hanzo's abilities, captured him and studied him within the Undermountain for a number of years, she disappeared eventually and Hanzo found himself alone to meditate on that which he had learned so far. A group of adventurers rescued him from his prison and he joined up with them to explore their interactions, their histories and perhaps find deeper secrets not written down in the documents he had read.
